Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about ECU remapping, DPF / EGR / AdBlue work, what's legal on Australian roads, and what you can expect at our Mascot workshop.
ECU Remapping
Is diesel ECU tuning legal in Australia? +
Yes. ECU remapping is legal in Australia when it complies with emissions standards and roadworthiness regulations. We always start every job from a tune that meets those requirements — power, torque and fuel-economy gains without breaking the law.
How much horsepower will I gain from an ECU remap? +
Most of our diesel tuning customers report gains of up to 30% in torque and horsepower. Real-world results vary by engine, condition and tune objectives — every car has a vehicle-specific page on our site with the actual numbers we measure on the dyno.
Can an ECU remap reduce fuel consumption? +
Yes. Many diesel vehicles see fuel savings of 5–15% thanks to more efficient combustion and improved part-throttle delivery. The savings are most noticeable when towing or doing long highway runs.
How long does ECU remapping take? +
Most ECU remap jobs take between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the vehicle, ECU access method, and any extra services included. Plan for a single day in the workshop with dyno before/after runs and a road test.
Will the remap void my factory warranty? +
A remap can affect manufacturer warranty on related driveline components. We back up your factory file before any changes, so we can restore the original calibration before any dealer visit. We discuss the implications openly before booking.
DPF, EGR & AdBlue
What is an EGR delete and is it recommended? +
An EGR delete electronically disables the Exhaust Gas Recirculation system, addressing carbon build-up and persistent EGR-cooler failures. We perform EGR deletes only for off-road, motorsport, agricultural and export-only vehicles. For road cars we recommend EGR cleaning, valve replacement or cooler repair.
Do you offer DPF removal services? +
We provide diagnostics, professional DPF cleaning and repair as our default. Full DPF deletion is restricted to off-road, agricultural and export-only vehicles. Removing a DPF from a road-registered vehicle is an offence under Australian emissions law.
What is AdBlue delete and who needs it? +
AdBlue delete electronically disables the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system. Like DPF and EGR delete, it is restricted to off-road, motorsport, agricultural and export-only vehicles. For road cars we focus on diagnosing and repairing the underlying SCR fault — usually for a fraction of dealer pricing.
Can I get more power without removing the DPF? +
Yes — and that is what we do for almost every road-registered vehicle. Our tuners have developed dyno-tested remaps for cars like the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger and Nissan Navara that deliver real power, torque and fuel-economy gains with the factory DPF still in place.
